The Eastern Bergen County Board of REALTORS® (EBCBOR) recently announced New Milford resident, Wendy Sosa, REALTOR® with RE/MAX Fortune Properties in Englewood Cliffs, as the recipient of the 2014 Rookie Salesperson of the Year award. Sosa was recognized as a rising star in the real estate profession during the Circle of Excellence Awards Luncheon held recently at the Palisadium in Fort Lee.
EBCBOR President Bowen Pak says, “An agent’s first year in real estate is not an easy one. When a new agent experiences success early in their career, it is a testament to both the work ethic of the agent and the training and guidance of their managing broker.” He says, “Wendy Sosa has demonstrated excellence in the areas of sales, team work and community involvement, for this she exemplifies a rising star in the REALTOR® Association.”
Born and raised in El Salvador, Sosa embodies the American Dream. As a teenager, she came to the United States determined to have a successful career so that she could help support her family. Sosa became fluent in English and excelled in her academic studies. She received her real estate license in 2014 and became a member of the Eastern Bergen County Board of REALTORS® last May.
Soon after her New Member Orientation, Sosa joined the EBCBOR Young Professionals Network. As a new REALTOR® of this group, Sosa organized various events that offer resources, training and networking opportunities to others new to the industry.
Sosa says, “I have always been very eager to learn from others. Collaborating with my fellow REALTORS® allows me to share day-to-day experiences in the real estate industry, that help me grow as a professional.”
She added, “Cooperation and collegiality are very important to building strong relationships with your colleagues and clients”. Recently she participated with fellow YPN members in providing dinner to more than 100 Bergen County residents in need as part of their volunteer service for the Bergen Family Promise’s Nightly Dinner Program. Sosa has also been active in local charity and food drives. Every six months, she organizes donation deliveries of essential items to needy families of El Salvador. When asked about the importance of community and association involvement she says, “In business, I feel it benefits me, and the buyers and sellers I represent, to have established positive relationships with colleagues; ultimately these connections will later help both of our clients to experience a successful transaction”.
At only 31 years old, Sosa is described by her Broker Robert Oppenheimer, owner of RE/MAX Fortune Properties, as having the leadership qualities similar to those of a seasoned professional. He says, “Everyone whose life Wendy touches is enamored with her genuine caring and kindness. She accommodates her clients above their expectations, making herself available to handle their requests.”
He continues, “Wendy is patient, eager to work, courteous and exhibits the professionalism of a far more experienced agent. She has contributed to the success of the office financially and has been instrumental in the digital marketing of listings with her social media knowledge.”
To be selected for the Rookie Salesperson of the Year award, a sales agent with 3 years or less industry experience must be nominated and fit the following criteria: exhibit sound moral character and high ethical professional behavior; demonstrate ability to originate, analyze, negotiate and close deals; display leadership qualities with strong team work skills; contribute to the firm’s success; participate in charitable endeavors and actively engage in EBCBOR events and meetings.
