5 Activities to Put on Your Family’s Spring Bucket List

After spending a season indoors to beat the chill of winter, spring invites us to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine. This year, enjoy spring to its fullest by making sure to try all of these fun activities with your family. Be sure to put these ideas on your family’s spring bucket list.

Plant Flowers
As spring comes in full bloom, there are few better ways to get into the season by planting your own beautiful blooms. Planting flowers makes your yard more beautiful and enjoyable all season long, and kids and adults can enjoy this simple and fun activity outside. Whether you choose to grow your flowers from a seed and watch them flourish or you choose to plant some already flowering plants, everyone is sure to have a good time.

Volunteer Together
There are always programs and people in need at any time of year, but spring can be an excellent time to get together with your family and friends to volunteer. Take advantage of the sunshine and fresh spring weather by cleaning up your local park, offering to do lawn care for an elderly adult, or checking in with your local animal shelter to see what opportunities may be available. Since many new animals are born in spring, animal shelters tend to have an influx of small furry friends that need extra care.

Have a Game Night
Not every spring day is full of sunshine. If you are facing a rainy spring day, take the opportunity to get cozy as a family and gather around a board game of your choosing. Make it even more fun by inviting another family. Compete against each other or team up kids vs parents.

Visit a Petting Zoo or Animal Sanctuary
Since spring is the season for newborn animals, there’s no better time to visit a petting zoo or animal sanctuary. If you are lucky, you might spot some baby animals, and if they’re old enough, you may even get to hold them!

Visit a Local Farm
Find fresh produce for your family to enjoy and see where your food is grown by visiting a local farm. Many family-owned farms have open houses during the spring where you can pick out new veggies and fruit to try as a family. While you might not be able to get too close, you may even spot some baby chicks or animals during the spring season.
