5 Ways to Brighten Up Your Kitchen Space

The kitchen is the heart of your home, and it’s likely a room you spend much of your waking hours in within your home. If your kitchen feels dim and uninviting, there are steps you can take without undergoing a big remodel or making costly upgrades. These six ideas can brighten up any kitchen space.

Opt for Sheer Window Treatments
Natural lighting is key to making sure your space feels bright, inviting and comfortable. Increasing your natural lighting through additional windows or sunroofs can be an excellent kitchen upgrade, a  Savvy budgeter knows that the right window treatments can go a long way to enhancing your current lighting. opt for sheer curtains in your kitchen. Unlike other rooms of the house privacy isn’t as much of an issue so sheer curtains are ideal on their own, they diffuse natural light, making more of your kitchen bright and cheery.

Go for Greenery
Greenery can bring life to any room and your kitchen is no exception. Succulents, pathos plants and other low-maintenance options can add beauty to your kitchen without a lot of work. Consider growing an indoor herb garden in your kitchen for the added benefit of beautiful decor and practical usefulness.

Keep Things Fresh
Other fresh options can add a pop of color and vibrance in your kitchen while adding practical benefits. Fresh fruit and veggies are helpful to have in your kitchen for obvious reasons. When displayed in a bowl, they can have the added benefit of being a rotating decor item.

Add More Lighting
When in doubt, add more lighting to your dim kitchen. A homeowner can do simple lighting upgrades with general handyman skills. Remember that a simple lighting swap may be performed by a skilled homeowner, but any true electrical work must be done by a licensed electrician.

Move to Open Shelving
Open shelving can provide additional visual interest and can open up your space. Keep in mind, however, open shelving isn’t for everyone, and it should be used sparingly throughout your space. Remember that while cabinets protect your household items from grease and dust, open shelving may mean you must wash your dishes and items more frequently.

Artwork can liven up any room, but many people neglect their kitchen. Your kitchen should not be forgotten, there are many artwork ideas that work well in a kitchen space. From rattan wall hangings to food-themed paintings, there are lots of ways to add art to your kitchen walls.
