Selling Your Home With the Colors of Spring

Everyone looks forward to spring. The sun starts to shine, temperatures rise and people tend to gravitate toward the great outdoors.

Spring is also a hopeful time for people selling their homes, as it’s the most active season for sales. And while getting your for-sale home ready for springtime staging, you might want to think about colors.

There are tints and hues that bring about a spring feeling. Pastels are particularly popular, but another appealing option is to decorate with colors associated with nature.

Here are some ways to bring the colors of spring indoors as you adjust your staging for the warm season.

Say It With Flowers. Nothing says spring like flowers. Placing flowers around the home is an easy and ideal way to add some color. Tulips, daffodils, lilacs, azaleas and pansies are some of the most popular options. Go with a variety flowers throughout the home, choosing the colors that best fit each room. The downside to flowers is that they don’t last forever, but a well-cared-for plant has a much longer life. Violets, hydrangea and hibiscus all bring lively colors to rooms.

Wall Art. Affordable art can be purchased at large stores, and also at local galleries. When it comes to art, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but landscapes featuring scenes of nature on sunny days or of people in the park or kids playing will bring a warm feeling to visitors. Ideally, buy art you really like so that you can hang it in your future home.

Set the Kitchen Table. Color also plays an important role in food. When visitors come, place a spread on the kitchen table. Include a vegetable plate with colorful springtime veggies like radishes, asparagus and carrots. Berries are delicious, healthy and come in lots of colors. Mix strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries for a visual delight and tasty treat.

Decorative Touches. Obviously, you don’t want to invest in new furniture just to make your home look a little more spring-like, but there are some easy steps you can take that will add the colors of the season to your home.

Throw pillows with bright colors or with themes of nature can liven up a den or family room. The dining room can be brightened with a festive tablecloth and centerpiece. And the whole look of bedrooms can be changed with spring-like pillowcases and comforters.

As we enter a key season for home sales, it’s time to spring into action and get colorful.
