A Designated Hit – Realtors Who Earn Designations Earn More

RISMEDIA, Nov. 26, 2008-Looking for a competitive edge (and who isn’t)? Realtors® who earn professional designations from the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) have a distinct advantage over those who don’t. Based on 2008 NAR survey data, the median income of brokers and agents without a designation was $33,200 while the median income of those with at least one designation was $67,900.

“Professional designations from NAR help members increase income by building the skills and proficiency they need to provide specialized expertise,” says Ken Burlington, NAR vice president, Education Services. “Plus, the prestige of a designation helps Realtors enhance their professional image and increase their marketability.”

November is Realtor Designation Month

Celebrate November as Realtor Designation Month by starting or completing the courses necessary to earn an official Realtor designation. You and your agents can earn an official NAR designation for practically every specialty area in the real estate industry, including buyer representation, land consulting, industrial and office brokerage, international property, property management, brokerage management, appraisal, performance management, seniors real estate, and much more, including NAR’s Green Designation.

Earn NAR Designations Online

You and your agents can earn official NAR family designations through Realtor University, NAR’s Internet-based, online education delivery system. By getting your designation online, you have more control of when and where you do it.

Realtor University is the exclusive provider of online courses resulting in official NAR family designations and certifications.

NAR’s New Green Designation

In response to growing consumer demand for green homes and building practices, NAR has introduced its new Green designation for Realtors. “The designation will help consumers, be they residential or commercial, who care about energy efficiency and environmentally sound building practices identify Realtors who can help them meet their green property goals,” says Marc Gould, vice president, NAR Business Specialties.

The first NAR Green Designation Residential Elective core course was held Nov. 5-6, 2008, at the 2008 Realtors Conference & Expo in Orlando, Florida. To earn the designation, Realtors must complete the core course, plus one elective.

The program is designed to help Realtors:

-Understand what makes a property green
-Explain to clients and customers the cost benefits of green building features and practices
-Distinguish between industry green rating and classification systems
-List and market green homes and buildings
-Discuss the financial grants and incentives available to homeowners
-Guide buyers in purchasing resource-efficient homes

e-PRO® Certification for Internet Professionalism

Technology training is a vital component to success as a real estate professional. NAR’s e-PRO® certification course is an online education program that teaches Realtors to effectively work with today’s online consumer while integrating e-marketing into their overall business plan. Join the over 57,000 professionals who have already registered for the only technology certification offered by NAR. In addition, continuing education (CE) credit is available in several states.
