Richard Haggerty provides diversity, equity and inclusion to create more opportunities at every level of the Hudson Gateway Association of REALTORS® (HGAR). In 2021, HGAR hired a DEI officer, created a DEI committee and conducted a demographic member survey.
HGAR also partnered with the Business Council of Westchester to combat racism and worked with the Westchester County Association, Westchester Residential Opportunities and the “Welcome Home Westchester” campaign to promote affordable housing. Haggerty advocates for ethics and professional standards within the real estate industry. In 2021, he testified in support of the co-op disclosure bill, to prevent discrimination and to bring about meaningful change to the co-op purchase process. His contribution helped the bill pass.
Haggerty also launched “Be Your Best,” a complimentary webinar series intended to help agents and brokers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The status quo is not an option, and we can never be influenced by fear of failure,” Haggerty says. “Challenges should always be looked at as opportunities.”
