RISMEDIA, Sept. 27, 2008-Look out Rachel Ray and Paula Dean, there’s a new cook taking over the kitchen. Karen Moore and Aryen Moore-Alston are a dynamic, mother-daughter pair, bringing their fresh approach to real estate by way of television.
Together, these women have spiced up traditional ways of selling homes in a new venture, aimed at creatively alluring home buyers into homes-starting with the kitchen. Aryen Moore-Alston, an actress and cook, and her mother, Karen Moore, a Realtor, are showcasing homes for sale in the Mid-South area while cooking delicious, healthy dishes in their kitchens on TV as part of the show, This House is Cooking!. Launched in late July, this new, innovative show can be seen by viewers on ABC24-WPTY in Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas and Missouri. Viewers will be able to see a home for sale while imagining a family meal in the homes’ kitchen during the menu preparation by Moore-Alston.
“This House is Cooking! brings a unique perspective to the housing market,” says Moore-Alston. “It is our hope that it will help homeowners in this area-and eventually the country-sell their homes while being entertained.”
The concept is fairly simple, according to its creators, with the goal of giving viewers the ultimate tour of homes for sale in the area. Moore, affiliate broker of Dan Stewart Realtors, introduces the viewers on a guided tour throughout the entire house in hopes of increasing sales in today’s declining real estate market. With over 11 years of real estate experience, Moore believes she has fully grasped what buyers are searching for and what information they need to make a good decision when buying a home-she hopes to relay this in the television series.
“Today’s home buyers are looking for comfort, style and convenience,” says Moore, who acts as the viewer’s buyer’s agent while conducting a virtual tour of each home. “The kitchen has become the central heart of the home, which serves as a gathering place to not only share meals but to entertain. This show will allow potential home buyers to see exactly how well a kitchen fits their needs during Aryen’s food preparation and I will take them on a tour to highlight additional features of the house,” says Moore, the executive producer of the show, alongside the production team led by Emmy award-winners, Rahn Evans and Vincent Price.
Each week, viewers will receive a tour of a home for sale and new recipes to add to their personal cookbooks as Moore-Alston’s menus are typically themed to the style of the home and contain a variety of dishes. What’s more, she’ll also give tips on presentation and entertaining for friends and family. At the age of 25, Moore-Alston’s impressive knowledge of Italian, Asian, American and Southern cuisine aims to make viewers’ mouths water while providing a feast for the eyes as they become acquainted with what could be their future home.
