Three Tips for Keeping Your Holiday Marketing Sensible

Home Consumer
November 13, 2012
Reading Time: 2 mins read

While the holidays may be the “most wonderful time of the year,” it’s important to keep your brand’s message from getting lost in the excitement and imagery of the season. Here are three ways to make sure your brand’s message stays on point during your holiday marketing campaign:

1. Keep it simple

Both consumers and journalists are inundated with all sorts of marketing materials and news tips this time of year. While it’s great to have fun and get into the holiday spirit, keep your message clear and concise. What exactly are you offering your customer? It’s important to make sure your value offering is easy to identify and understand. During such a chaotic time of year, your audience will appreciate a simple message.

2. Set your news apart

Creativity is key. Instead of pushing your product or service as the “ultimate” or “must-have” holiday gift, position your brand within a larger story. Are you doing a giveaway? Or perhaps you’re profiling loyal users as a way to say thanks. The holidays are the ideal time of year to highlight the human element of what you do. By doing so effectively, you can position your brand, product, or service beyond its functionality to emotionally connect with your customers.

3. Go social

Use social media to carry out the above ideas. Visuals and interaction provide the perfect medium to keep your message clear while still feeding off the holiday energy. Encourage customers to post photos of themselves using your product in a holiday-themed way. Asking customers to share their favorite holiday memory or tradition using a holiday hashtag can be a great way to drive goodwill towards your brand.
