How to Make Your Home Feel Extra Cozy This Winter

Cold weather isn’t for everyone, but we can all probably agree that there’s nothing like curling up by the fire with a good book on a frigid winter day. Of course, it helps when your house has just the right touches to keep you comfortable once the temperatures start to drop. Here are a few such ways to make sure your home stays cozy all winter long.

Luxurious Bedding
The bed is always a good place to start when preparing for cold weather. This time of year, you may want to replace those breezy summer sheets with a cozy, cotton flannel set, and make sure to bring out a heavy down comforter while you’re at it. For those who have a particularly hard time staying warm this time of year, a heated mattress pad is sure to be appreciated.

Warm Window Treatments
The right window treatments can completely transform the ambience in your home, especially during the winter. A plush set of drapes can warm your home up both visually and literally by adding extra insulation to prevent heat from escaping through your windows. Another suitable choice for winter is roman shades made from a hefty fabric that will lock your home’s heat in.

Decorate With Layers
Rugs, pillows and throws are all great ways to warm up any room and make everyone a little more comfortable when spending time around the house. Just make sure to match them with your home’s aesthetic to keep it stylish and cozy at the same time when you wrap yourself up in a luxurious throw.

Soft Lighting
Bright, white lights are great for task lighting, but they can feel a little cold in the winter. For this reason, you may want to go with bulbs that are a little warmer on the color temperature scale and emit more of a yellow-tinted light. For the ultimate convenience, a smart lighting system will allow you to easily control this by adjusting the color temperature using your mobile device.
