Declutter Often
Starting early allows you the time to take a moment to declutter. There is a lot of effort involved in moving each box you take to your new home, so don’t get stuck moving items you never really wanted to keep in the first place. If you are in a time crunch, don’t worry about decluttering the hard sentimental items, just focus on the easy things you know you don’t need.
Stock Up on Trash Bags
Trash bags are your best friend when packing. Set aside one bag for trash or recycling, one for items to donate and a stack for the clothes in your closet. Keep your items hanging on the rod, open the bag and pull it over your hangable items from the bottom going up. Simply tie the top of your bag to keep your hangers in place and they’ll be ready to hang up in your new home!
Keep a Moving Binder and Backpack
A moving binder full of important paperwork, your essential items and a change of clothes should all be packed in your car. The last thing you need is to find out that your moving truck couldn’t make it to your destination in time and you don’t have your necessities. Your phone charger and toilet paper should be safely stowed away in your backpack so you have what you need to survive the first night in your new home.
