4 Nursery Themes Perfect for Your Little One

Decorating the nursery may be one of the most exciting ways new parents get to prepare for their little one’s arrival. While preparing the nursery can be a lot of fun, it can be hard to find a theme you love. From gender-neutral and modern takes to traditional designs, one of these four ideas is sure to be perfect for your nursery.

Modern Nursery Themes:
Soft Boho
If you are looking for the perfect modern decor style to translate into a nursery theme, look no further than the soft and earthy atmosphere of boho design. Infuse your nursery with a bohemian vibe by combining modern elements with eclectic details. Opt for monochromatic neutrals and earthy tans or beiges with white. Minimalism paired with a  mix of textures like macramé, rattan, and woven fabrics will keep the room feeling warm and open. To make the nursery playful and interesting, add muted hues of classic rainbow colors and display nature-inspired wall art for a whimsical addition without being too childish.

Intelligent Monochrome
A bold monochrome interior is not what most will think of when they imagine a nursery, but there is a case to be made for the sharp contrast of a modern interior. Newborns see in black and white and shades of gray, not developing color vision until close to 4 months of age. Create a striking nursery using a monochrome color scheme of black, white, and shades of gray. Play with patterns such as polka dots, stripes, and color blocking for visual interest.

Traditional:
Rose Garden Party
For a theme that incorporates all the traditional little girl colors, but will also grow with baby, consider a garden tea party theme. Keep the room bright and cheery with pastel pinks, blush, and cream. Incorporate childlike art that features roses, tea parties, and general garden elements. Keep on theme while adding a more grown-up and relaxing feel by using real plants or faux plants for added greenery.

Seaside Nautical
Keep things gender-neutral while embracing blue hues with a seaside nautical theme. Decorate with navy, light blue, and tans for a color scheme that will take you back to your favorite day at visiting the coast. Make it more personalized by taking a babymoon to the seaside to find shells and take photos of lighthouses to use as decor for the baby. This theme can be moved to grace an extra bath or guest bedroom when you’re ready to move on to a kid-friendly theme for an older child.
