RE/MAX of Wasaga Beach

For Bruce Johnson and his family, the loss of a loved one inspired a mission to help sick and injured children through their Alyssa Rae Johnson Fund and Motorcycle For Miracles initiative.

Johnson is an award-winning sales associate at RE/MAX of Wasaga Beach in Ontario. The loss of Johnson’s baby daughter Alyssa Rae in 1998 spurred the family to establish a foundation in order to raise funds for SickKids, the local children’s hospital in Toronto that provided her care. With the launch of Motorcycle For Miracles in 2013, the mission grew to include raising funds and awareness for all Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in North America.

Johnson and his teenage daughter Holly recently completed a Motorcycle for Miracles fundraising ride of epic proportions. On a six-month journey, the two rode “Miracle” the motorcycle approximately 26,500 km from the Arctic village of Tuktoyaktuk in Canada to Ushuaia, Argentina, the southernmost town in the world. The effort, the third such father-daughter trip, raised over $350,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Johnson cites a quote from Theodore Roosevelt: “Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.”

Johnson, who has been with RE/MAX of Wasaga Beach since 1997, is a member of the RE/MAX Hall of Fame and a RE/MAX Lifetime Achievement award recipient. He also became the first Canadian winner of the National Association of REALTORS® Good Neighbor Award in 2019 and a Rotary Club International Paul Harris Fellow in 2018.
