Ginny Shipe has served as chief executive officer of the Real Estate Business Institute (REBI), an affiliate of the National Association of REALTORS®, since 1999.
“I am proud and humbled to lead REBI’s accelerated growth after surmounting the market conditions in 2008,” says Shipe.
REBI’s membership has grown by almost 27 percent in the past year, to 21,444 members and counting. The company has introduced new, high-value courses to thousands of students and enhanced its members’ experiences to strengthen its global presence. Shipe believes that an effective leader must never believe that he or she knows everything, but rather must always be learning new information and considering new ideas.
According to Shipe, “As President John F. Kennedy was to say in a speech scheduled for the day of his tragic assassination, ‘leadership and learning are indispensable to each other,'” adding that “without question, a willingness and ability to learn is the foundation of all success in our knowledge-based society, and the need to make learning a top priority will become that much more critical in the next several years as an increasingly global marketplace, combined with the relentless pace of advancement in science and technology, creates new levels of challenge and complexity for individuals and organizations alike.”
