RISMEDIA, November 17, 2010—Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate LLC announced that its president and CEO, Sherry Chris, won a Stevie Award for Best Executive in the Stevie Awards for Women in Business. Chris was named a finalist in mid-October, and the final results were not known until they were announced at an awards ceremony. The Stevie Awards for Women in Business is an international competition recognizing the accomplishments of outstanding women executives, entrepreneurs, and the organizations they run. The awards are produced by the creators of the American Business Awards.

“I stand here tonight because of the work of so many dedicated and passionate people at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate,” said Chris in accepting the award at a ceremony at the Marriott Marquis. “Three years ago, a small group of us took on the challenge of launching a national real estate franchise during one of the most difficult housing markets in history. We were convinced that we could offer something new, and today we are a fast-growing national franchise.”

Chris was recognized with the Best Executive, Service Businesses, up to 100 Employees, All Other Industries award covering a broad group of businesses not covered under the categories of advertising, business services or computer services. She was cited for her accomplishments of the past year, which included gaining momentum in a down housing market, rallying a depressed industry, brokering deals, keynoting conferences, lending time to industry leadership boards and remaining a hands-on manager to lead her firm with an agenda of early adoption and expansion of innovative technology to strengthen business processes.

The honor caps a year in which Chris was named 2010 Inman Innovator of the Year, and the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate brand received marketing awards including two silver awards from the International Academy of the Visual Arts, a gold Galaxy award for marketing excellence, a Summit International Award for excellence in communications, and a WebAward for its innovative Internet presence.

Stevie Awards are conferred in four programs: The American Business Awards, The International Business Awards, the Stevie Awards for Women in Business, and the Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Service. Honoring companies of all types and sizes and the people behind them, the Stevies recognize outstanding performances in the workplace worldwide.
