Industry advocate and leader Kathy Baker, vice president, Franchise and Business Solutions for RE/MAX, LLC, was honored with RISMedia’s 2012 National Homeownership Award this past Friday, November 9, during RISMedia’s 17th Annual Power Broker Dinner in Orlando, Fla.

Sponsored by Bank of America, the National Homeownership Award honors a member of the real estate industry for his or her extraordinary contributions toward increasing homeownership and building better communities.

Bank of America’s Consumer Sales Executive Matt Vernon presented Baker with the award during RISMedia’s annual Power Broker Dinner, held in conjunction with NAR’s REALTORS® Conference & Expo. The Power Broker Dinner honors the industry’s top brokers, as determined by the results of RISMedia’s annual Power Broker Report & Survey.

Baker joined RE/MAX in 1995 as a broker/partner in Raleigh, N.C. Her RE/MAX honors include 1997 Regional Manager of the Year, 1998 Regional Children’s Miracle Network Miracle Maker Award, 2007 RE/MAX Manager of the Year and a 2010 RE/MAX Special Service Award.

Now as vice president, Franchise and Business Solutions, Baker’s primary responsibility is to increase the level of service to RE/MAX associates by providing coaching, support and implementation of best practices via the Franchise and Business Solutions team. In her years with the network, Baker has been integral in updating and developing the RE/MAX Broker/Owner Management Training program along with many educational programs offered through RE/MAX University.

“Kathy Baker represents the heart and soul of the real estate industry and is truly worthy of the National Homeownership Award,” said RISMedia President & CEO John Featherston. “Her track record of success and passion for helping other real estate professionals achieve that same success is an inspiration to us all.”

Baker is the ninth industry icon to receive the award. Others include: Sandra Sanders, broker/owner of RE/MAX Palos Verdes Realty & Execs; Richard (Dick) Schlott, CEO of Gloria Nilson REALTORS® Real Living; Ron Peltier, Chairman & CEO, HomeServices of America; Dave Liniger, Founder & Chairman, RE/MAX International; J. Lennox Scott, Chairman & CEO, John L. Scott Real Estate; Gino Blefari and Robert Moles, Founders, Intero Real Estate Services; Alex Perriello, President & CEO, Realogy Franchise Group; and Hoddy Hanna, Chairman of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services.
