Big Cities vs. Small Cities: Which One is Right For You?

Cities offer so much to do, which makes for an exciting and active life when you move to a destination that is a hub for all sorts of activities.

But making the decision to live in an urban area is just the first step, next you have to decide if you want to live in a major metropolitan area or a smaller, more intimate city. Each option has its advantages and when investing in a home, it’s important to consider which is right for you.

Reasons to Live in a Big City

There’s More of Everything:
If you envision yourself going out to enjoy concerts, theater, museums, and sporting events, large cities offer endless options. And you’ll see the best of everything—the biggest stars, the most famous works of art and legendary athletes.

Delicious Dining:
Just about any area has some terrific restaurants, but the biggest cities are home to the most famous dining destinations in the world. From high-end and unique eateries to intimate spots that serve meals that delight the senses, a big city is going to have restaurants to satisfy any craving.

Public Transportation:
Big cities have affordable and active public transportation options that make it easy to get wherever you want without having to drive. People like to complain about late trains and buses or the cost of a cab ride, but overall, they’re a great convenience.

Perks of Small-City Living

More Bang for Your Buck:
Homes in the biggest cities are very expensive, even studios will test the budgets of lots of buyers. But apartments and town houses in smaller urban areas are much more affordable. And while there’s less to do in a smaller city, there are still plenty of activities to enjoy at affordable prices.

Be Part of a Community:
Living in a small city offers the perks of living in a vibrant urban area while maintaining some of the charms of a small town. You can get involved with charitable organizations and neighborhood groups, make your presence known, and make a real difference in your neighborhood.

Living is Easier:
By moving to a more intimate city, you’ll be able to get know its layout quicker than larger counterparts. They’re also easier to navigate and have less traffic. Plus, when it’s time to leave home, to visit family or take a drive to the country, you’ll get in and out of your city with ease.
