Luxury Patio Design Ideas

A luxurious outdoor living space can be your home’s greatest asset. It’s an extension of your interior and can be used throughout the year, regardless of the weather. Marrying multiple elements together can result in the ultimate outdoor luxury living space. Read on for inspiration on features you can add to your outdoor space to create a luxury patio design.

Fire Source
A fire source can be used year-round, from warm summer nights to chilly winter evenings. Whether it is a stand-alone fireplace, a rustic fire pit, a covered fireplace, a see-through fireplace, or a swimming pool fire element, having a fire source will add drama and comfort to any outdoor living space. It will also extend the longevity of your patio.

Water Source
Like a fire source, a water source adds drama and practicality, no matter how large or small a water feature you choose. A full-size pool will provide endless entertainment and memories, while a smaller fountain can create a tranquil atmosphere. A hot tub can be enjoyed year-round, while a lap pool is excellent for exercise.

Ample Living and Dining Space
Having an area large enough to enjoy an outdoor dinner party and a place to enjoy post-dinner conversation results in an ultra-comfortable outdoor living space. From a full-size dining table to an oversized outdoor sectional, having ample space for your guests to move around easily creates a luxurious space that will make everyone feel at home.

Full Kitchen
A full outdoor kitchen will eliminate trips inside and let you remain with your guests as you host gatherings from cocktail hours to dinner parties. Prepping the outdoor refrigerator with your ingredients in advance will allow you to take advantage of the outdoor space and good company.

Outdoor Bar
Imagine if your favorite neighborhood watering hole is in your own backyard. A covered bar with plenty of seating, a refrigerator, an ice machine and a TV to watch the game will create a spot for you to enjoy an evening at home with friends and family.

Appropriate Lighting
Thoughtful lighting can result in a resort-like atmosphere. Lighting the walkways, pool, planters, and hanging statement light fixtures will blend the lines of indoor-outdoor living and allow you to enjoy the space long after the sunsets.

Outdoor Media Room
Movie nights or catching up on your favorite shows outside brings a new level of enjoyment from your favorite way to relax. An outdoor TV surrounded by a plush, deep outdoor sectional, an oversized coffee table for snacks, and plenty of throw blankets may make it the most comfortable lounging space in your house.

Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Transition
Designing your patio in a way that creates a seamless transition from the indoors to the outdoors will genuinely make the patio feel like an extension of your home. For example, retractable windows and floor-to-ceiling windows will blend the indoor and outdoor areas, making your patio feel like an open-air room.
