Record Setting Home Re-Introduced to Market at $149 Million

The palatial Palazzo di Amore, which set the record as the nation’s most expensive estate on the market at $195 Million, was recently reintroduced at $149 million by Coldwell Banker Previews International, retaining its position the No. 1 property on the market in Los Angeles on the LA Multiple Listing Service (CLAW).  Joyce Rey and Stacy Gottula are the listing agents for this palatial private compound set on a promontory in the heart of Beverly Hills on 25 acres offering unparalleled views.

The elite estate is owned by real estate entrepreneur Jeff Greene who has made a series of upgrades over the past several months, enhancing its prestige and security by dedicating nearly $1 Million to creating an entirely new grand entry commensurate with the world-class property.  He decided to replace the original deliberately understated entry to match the grandeur of the estate by creating a high profile entry way complete with a new gate, turn-about and guard station, all framed by 50 year old olive trees.  An enclosed lounge area connected to the tennis court was recently added to the property’s recreational facilities which include a swimming pool, spa and outdoor barbecue area.  A two-acre organic farm will be completed shortly.

After investing tens of millions to complete and expand the property, Greene has decided to put the property on the market since the East Coast is his primary base of operations.

“Palazzo di Amore represents eight years of hard work,” states Greene. “When we originally put it on the market, we were prepared to see what the response would be.   Now, we are very motivated to sell.  I have toured many of the world’s top estates, and there is nothing quite like it anywhere.  It offers that rare combination of a palatial estate set on 25 acres just minutes from Rodeo Drive and all that Beverly Hills has to offer.  Many of the world’s great estates are remote – far from major cities like Los Angeles.  They may have Old World charm, but they don’t offer modern conveniences.  Palazzo di Amore has the best of both worlds. Nothing in LA compares. You could never obtain the permission from the city to create an estate of this magnitude in the heart of Beverly Hills.  It is, quite simply, impossible to recreate and one of a kind.”

Palazzo di Amore features a 15,000 square foot entertainment center that includes a disco/ballroom with a revolving turn table style dance floor, DJ booth, and a laser-light system, as well as 50-seat private screening room, bowling alley and game room.  Guests are welcomed to the two-level structure through a floating glass-floor walkway over pools lined by 70 year old mature olive trees.

The main residence at Palazzo di Amore is over 35,000 square feet, including a finished wine cellar, while the entire estate offers more than 53,000 square feet of livable areas.  The property provides garage parking for 27 cars and can accommodate parking for up to 150 cars on-site.

With architecture by Bob Ray Offenhauser and design by Alberto Pinto, the Palazzo di Amore is suited to entertain on a grand scale, offering the opportunity to host events for over 1,000 guests. Visitors arrive through three sets of grand double gates and approach the estate via a quarter-mile long tree-lined drive.  The marbled two-story sky-lit entry features twin curving staircases.  The living room, dining room, breakfast room, game room, office and family room all open onto the manicured grounds graced by a 128-footscenic reflecting pool and fountain.

The wine cellar on the main floor holds 3,000 bottles and a tasting room provides a setting to savor the estate’s private label, Beverly Hills Vineyards. The vineyard produces a 400-500 cases per year of wine made from classic varietals. The lower level houses approximately 10,000 bottles and additional barrels in a second wine cellar which includes temperature-controlled rooms for wine storage flanked by a large tasting room.

The second level of the main residence, accessible both by the sweeping double stairway and by an elevator, has two wings. The east wing features a spacious guest suite and a 5,000 square foot master suite. His master bath features a traditional hammam, a Turkish style spa highlighted by custom hand-painted wooden panels, a fireplace and floor-to-ceiling iridescent Moroccan tiles. The west wing houses four expansive bedroom suites including a VIP suite outfitted with silk upholstered walls, a full kitchen, a large-scale bathroom, a walk-in closet, a sitting room that opens to a spacious terrace spanning nearly 100 feet long. In total, the estate offers 12 bedrooms and 23 bathrooms.
