While there’s no denying that buyer preferences have shifted dramatically over the last twelve months, chances are that many recent changes will hold fast through the upcoming year. With that said, following are a few of the most important housing features that will remain a top priority for buyers in 2021.

Stunning Outdoor Spaces
It’s no secret that private outdoor spaces are a must-have for luxury homeowners. Sunshine, fresh air and an abundance of greenery are more appreciated than ever before, which is why homes with breathtaking, al fresco living areas will be in high demand. Whether it’s a spacious rooftop in the city or a professionally landscaped backyard and terrace, high-end buyers continue to demonstrate that they are willing to pay more to bask in the outdoors.

Well-Appointed Offices
The home office quickly became one of the most important features last year, and it will likely continue to hold significance in the future. With many companies choosing to continue allowing their workforce to work remotely for the foreseeable future, a well-appointed office has serious appeal for luxury buyers. In addition to having a thoughtfully designed workspace, it’s also become essential to have a pleasing background when video conferencing.

Health and Wellness
Even before 2020, wellness features were already one of the hottest trends in luxury real estate. Now, they are at the forefront, as more buyers are placing a premium on homes that promote physical and emotional wellbeing. Air and water purifiers, home wellness facilities and state-of-the-art exercise areas are just a few examples of features that have been thrust to the top of the list for today’s buyers.

Access to Activities
It’s not just about what’s inside your home, but also what’s outside of it. In 2021, buyers will continue to seek out homes that offer immediate access to outdoor activities, such as golf, skiing, boating and hiking. Many homeowners have a newfound appreciation for properties that cater to these activities, and the demand in the market will certainly reflect this.
