Rob Chrane—a 30-year veteran of the industry—founded Down Payment Resource (DPR) to address the biggest hurdle to homeownership: down payment and closing costs. Through DPR, Chrane and his team have developed the nation’s only comprehensive database of homebuyer assistance programs, and created tools that allow agents, MLSs, listing sites and lenders to connect homebuyers with the assistance they need.

“A home is so fundamental to quality of life that I can’t think of anything more rewarding than helping people achieve safe and sustainable homeownership—especially those who are underserved and those who may not realize that homeownership is within their reach,” says Chrane. “My team and I are also equally fulfilled by aiding housing professionals in their success, empowering agents to help more buyers, lenders to serve more borrowers and housing counselors to guide clients more effectively.”

Under Chrane’s leadership, DPR was used by more than 1 million unique users to conduct 6.7 million searches for homebuyer assistance, and the company was recognized as a 2023 Inc. 5000 company. He also led DPR to achieve a lifetime user milestone—having served 6 million unique users since its inception

For his leadership and work with DPR, Chrane was recognized by the Mortgage Bankers Association with its 2023 Tech All-Star Award for contributions to housing technology.
