RISMEDIA, August 5, 2011—As the National Association of REALTORS® Home Ownership Matters bus crosses Missouri this week, a stop in Joplin, Mo., underscores REALTORS®’ commitment to rebuilding the local community.
“When we see the devastation of families losing their homes in natural disasters, we’re reminded of just how much home ownership matters,” says NAR 2011 Vice President Elizabeth Mendenhall, who met with REALTORS ® and families affected by the tornadoes in Cunningham Park, 26th and Maiden Lane, at 1 p.m. CDT on August 4. “REALTORS® not only build communities, but also help rebuild homes and neighborhoods devastated by natural disasters as we have seen right here in Joplin.”
As part of the Home Ownership Matters bus tour, Mendenhall joined Missouri Association of REALTORS ® President Joyce Thomas; Ozark Gateway Association of REALTORS ® President Cheryl Efird; Missouri State Sen. Ron Richard and Joplin, Mo., Mayor Mike Woolston at the event to present a $73,000 check for local relief efforts. Funds were collected through NAR’s REALTOR® Relief Foundation and the Missouri REALTORS® Relief Foundation.
