NBA Hall of Fame and NCAA Basketball Legend Bill Walton to Keynote RISMedia’s Power Broker Reception & Dinner

Home Best Practices
May 19, 2013
Reading Time: 2 mins read

After achieving superstardom playing for John Wooden’s powerhouse UCLA Bruins in the early ’70s and winning three, straight College Player of the Year Awards, Bill Walton was destined to become an NBA legend.

Known as “The Big Red-Head,” Walton won the NBA Most Valuable Player award while playing for the defending NBA champion Trail Blazers in 1977-78. At the top of his form, Walton scored, passed, intimidated, hustled, and played the role of leader with the best centers of his day.

Walton will bring that high energy and his motivating words and stories from his Hall of Fame basketball career to RISMedia’s 16th Annual Power Broker Reception & Dinner on Friday, November 11, 2011 in Anaheim, California, during the annual NAR convention.

Each year the Power Broker Reception & Dinner brings together real estate’s leading decision makers—from top brokers and executives to industry visionaries and icons. This invitation-only gala annually honors the real estate industry’s top-producing companies, ranked by transaction and sales volume in RISMedia’s Annual Power Broker Survey—and offers sponsors a unique opportunity to network with the industry’s top power players, all in one location.

“We are thrilled and honored to have NBA legend and Hall of Famer Bill Walton as our keynote speaker at this year’s Power Broker Reception and Dinner,” said John Featherston, RISMedia Publisher and CEO. “Walton’s ability to overcome adversity and achieve such an incredible level of success in everything he’s done, both on the court and off, is a testament to the true spirit of dedication, skill and talent. Brokers will find his stories compelling and inspiring.”

While Walton’s career was hampered by multiple foot injuries and his personal life spiced by controversy, Walton won high praise from players and coaches alike and drew comparisons to such players as Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bill Russell. He was a perfectionist whose range of skills and dedication never ceased to impress those who saw him play. Since retiring from the NBA, Walton has had a successful and controversial career as a television sportscaster. Overcoming a speech impediment, Walton went on to become one of the best color commentators in the industry for NBC, the Los Angeles Clippers, ABC/ESPN, the Sacramento Kings and the Boston Celtics.

Don’t forget! RISMedia’s Power Broker Forum, being held earlier that Friday, November 11, 2011 during the NAR convention, is open to all full-conference and day-conference attendees and offers the opportunity to learn from those brokers in the trenches—learning best practices and competitive strategies.

The Power Broker Forum, “The One Thing Power Brokers Can’t Live Without,” is being held on Nov. 11, 2011, from 2:30 – 4 p.m. at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, CA. Watch RISMedia for continuing updates and further details.
