Dr. Lawrence Yun serves as chief economist and senior vice president of Research at the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). He monitors developments in the real estate market and studies how they have impacted or might impact consumers, real estate professionals and the broader economy.
Yun oversees a wide range of research activity for the Association, including Existing Home Sales statistics, Affordability Index, and Home Buyers and Sellers Profile Reports. In addition to compiling figures and creating forecasts, Yun provides explanations to help industry professionals and the public put the findings into context. He regularly provides commentary on real estate market trends for NAR’s 1.3 million members. Yun also appears on financial news outlets, contributes columns and articles online, and speaks at real estate conferences across the United States.
Yun believes it is important to increase the housing supply in order to control home price growth and to increase consumers’ chances of becoming homeowners. He has addressed the topic and offered suggestions to encourage local associations to work with business leaders and elected officials to increase critically-needed new home construction.
Yun is honored to be selected as an RISMedia Newsmaker and is “delighted to be considered to be in this elite group. Real estate drives so much of what it is to be America and Americans, and I am most grateful to be participating in this fantastic industry.”
