Michael Lam and fellow RISMedia Newsmaker Ben Rubenstein co-founded Opcity in December 2015. In his work as CFO and head of Analytics, Lam provides financial, strategic and operational leadership.
Opcity has seen tremendous growth since its founding. It now employs over 400 people and has expanded market coverage to all 50 states. The company currently partners with over 5,000 brokerages and 40,000 real estate agents. Opcity has built a cohesive team and culture motivated by the goal of making the process of buying or selling a home easier and more efficient for everyone involved.
Earlier this year, News Corp. announced that its subsidiary Move, Inc., operator of realtor.com®, had entered into an agreement to acquire Opcity. The company’s leaders are optimistic that the acquisition will accelerate Opcity’s process of working toward its goals. Prior to co-founding Opcity, Lam founded consumer goods companies with over $50 million in sales and served as vice president of Corporate Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions at Citigroup, and as an associate consultant at BCG. He was named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for 2018.
Lam credits his success to working hard, seizing opportunities and thinking big.
“It takes the same amount of effort to address a big opportunity as it does a small opportunity,” he says.
