Rikki Rogers is vice president of marketing for Curbio, a tech-enabled startup that renovates homes before they’re listed and waits until settlement to be paid. In 2019, Rogers helped Curbio triple the number of markets in which the company operates in less than nine months, as well as led Curbio to beat the competition at the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) iOi Summit in August.
With a compelling pitch by Rogers, Curbio won the grand prize at the iOi Summit in a battle between 14 startups. As the competition’s winner, Curbio was awarded $15,000 in cash and a booth at the REALTORS® Conference & Expo, as well as access to business-building opportunities, including a meeting with NAR’s Second Century Ventures.
“The entire Curbio team is thrilled about the win,” said Rogers in a statement. “Curbio is changing the way REALTORS® and their clients approach selling homes. Our platform accelerates renovation completion by more than 60 percent, increases net proceeds for sellers and gives real estate agents back their valuable time–this is the new way of preparing for market.”
Curbio’s “renovate now, pay at settlement” model allows sellers to flip their own home and cash in on their investment, instead of letting an investor or wholesaler profit. Rogers made a strategic decision early on to exclusively market to agents and require sellers to have an agent in order to work with Curbio, as the company aims to be a resource for, not a competitor to, agents.
