More than 1,000 attend RISMedia’s 18th Annual Leadership Conference

RISMEDIA, September 17, 2007–Amid the real estate industry’s current mortgage issues, market shift and flurry of agents, this year’s RISMedia Leadership Conference seemed more relevant than ever.

More than 1,000 industry professionals converged on New York City earlier this month for the Conference-now in its 18th year. With more than 80 speakers, this year’s event certainly had no shortage of top industry players. The opening session alone-titled “Critical Issues Facing the Industry Today”, included Ed Krafchow, Prudential CA/NV/TX Realty; Sherry Chris, Coldwell Banker; Howard “Hoddy” Hanna III, Howard Hanna Real Estate; Dottie Herman, Prudential Douglas Elliman; Ron Peltier, HomeServices of America; Alex Perriello, Realogy Franchise Group; J. Lennox Scott, John L. Scott Real Estate; Brenda Shipplett, Long & Foster Real Estate; and Merle Whitehead, RealtyUSA Real Estate.

However, some of the most talked about sessions at this year’s Leadership Conference were the ones that focused on the basics in both agent education and marketing: “A Lesson in Education-Essential Methods for Retraining Agents for Today’s Market” (facilitated by Kim Ades, president of Opening Doors) and “A Re-education: Getting Back to Basics” (facilitated by Mark Leader, CEO of Mark Leader Courses). Some of the marketing offerings included, “A New Plan? Marketing and Technology Strategies that Will Impact Your Bottom Line Today” and “The Perfect Marriage-Integrating Print and Online Advertising Strategies to Increase Your Revenue Now.”

Also top of mind was the increasing prevalence of agent teams. Attendees flocked to two different sessions, both moderated by industry veteran Ralph Roberts: “From A to Z-How Do I Form and Lead a Championship Agent Team?” and “A New Opportunity? How Brokers Can Succeed with Agent Teams.”

Held September 5-6, the two-day event offered four educational tracks, including Marketing & Technology, Recruitment & Training, Business Development and Relocation. Attendees also had the opportunity to mingle with colleagues, industry VIPs and leading industry service providers during various networking receptions-all held on the trade show floor.

RISMedia’s next educational event will be the Power Broker Forum held in conjunction with the NAR Annual Conference and Expo, this year in Las Vegas. To learn more about this upcoming event and how to attend, click here.
