William Raveis Breast Cancer Research Fund Launches 2007 Campaign

September 18, 2007
Reading Time: 2 mins read

RISMEDIA, Sept. 19, 2007-Continuing in its fourth year in operation, the William Raveis Breast Cancer Research Fund recently launched its 2007 raffle ticket sales campaign to benefit Connecticut and Massachusetts breast cancer research organizations. Prizes-donated almost entirely by William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage & Insurance-include more than $20,000 in jewelry, Boston and New York City excursions, a car racing experience, big-ticket electronics and more.”We feel optimistic that 2007 will be another noteworthy year for the Breast Cancer Research Fund,” said William Raveis, chief executive officer and chairman of William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage & Insurance. “Thanks to the remarkable individuals who have dedicated themselves to furthering this cause, fundraising efforts continue to exceed our expectations.”

Raffle tickets are $10 and can be purchased at any Connecticut or Massachusetts William Raveis Real Estate office or through the company’s Web site, raveis.com. Ticket sales opened on Aug. 6 and will continue through Oct. 31. Each raffle ticket purchase offers the opportunity to win one of 10 prize packages. The drawing will take place on Nov. 5, 2007, at corporate headquarters in Shelton, Conn.

“Last year’s campaign sold nearly 20,000 raffle tickets,” said Lorraine Megenis, vice president of operations and director of William Raveis Charitable Fund, Inc. “Considering the growth of our company, the enthusiasm of our sales associates and employees to sell tickets, and increased awareness of the William Raveis Breast Cancer Research Fund, we are hoping to double our ticket sales in 2007.”

“Our goal is to find a cure for breast cancer and last year, an extraordinary thing occurred,” said Carolyn Deal, president and COO of the company. “When our top prize winner came to claim her jewelry, she told us she was in the midst of chemo therapy treatment. It was a poignant and meaningful moment for us.”

Sponsored by the William Raveis Charitable Fund, Inc., the William Raveis Breast Cancer Research Fund is a private, non-profit organization which has raised over half a million dollars since its inception in 2004. In 2007 alone, a total of $180,000 was donated to beneficiaries such as the Breast Cancer Alliance, Greenwich, Conn.; Dana-Farber Women’s Cancers Center, Boston; and the Ray and Carol Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UConn Health Center, Farmington, Conn. Through the support of William Raveis employees as well as other dedicated contributors, the William Raveis Breast Cancer Research Fund is committed to advancing the search for a cure. William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage & Insurance also donates a portion of each real estate commission to the fund, as well as a portion of each dollar spent through the William Raveis Rewards American Express® and Visa® cards.
