Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty Summer Social Media Bootcamp an Asset to Agents and Clients

RISMEDIA, September 16, 2010—Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty (BHG Rand Realty) sponsored an internal social media program this summer, which proved to be a great asset to its agents and their clients.

BHG Rand Realty held a Social Media Bootcamp for its agents on two occasions this summer—one on Wednesday, July 21 at the Holidome in Suffern, N.Y., and the other on Thursday, July 29 at the Mount Kisco Holiday Inn. Collectively, more than 500 Rand agents attended the event designed to provide an overview of the social media landscape and its impact on communication with friends, family, colleagues and clients.

The program was presented by Wendy Forsythe from Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate. It featured an introduction to blogs and blogging, Twitter and Facebook. Enthusiasm for the training was widespread among the attendees.

“The way people communicate and interact online is changing very rapidly. No more are people using e-mail as their only digital communication tool,” said Jamie Troia, digital marketing consultant with Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty. “The popularity of sites like Facebook and Twitter has presented new ways for people in all industries to connect with their prospects and customers. It is our job as quality service providers to be where are clients are looking.”

Troia added, “One thing that many of our associates walked away with was a new understanding of the etiquette of social networks. Communicating with these tools is much like communicating at a cocktail party; you shouldn’t just barge in and start talking to everyone in a loud voice. You need to listen to the conversation, get acquainted with the people in the conversation, and talk when you feel you can contribute to the conversation.”
