(MCT)—Phil Jackson will be residing in midtown Manhattan during his tenure with the New York Knicks. The legendary Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls coach turned NBA executive recently paid $4.85 million for a co-op at the Osborne, a historic brownstone building on West 57th Street.
The Gilded Age residence, built in 1883, was renovated by Ferguson and Shamamian Architects, which preserved original features including inlaid oak and cherry flooring, hand-carved pocket doors and bay windows with period stained glass insets.
The 2,600 square feet of living space features a stately wood-paneled library, wood-burning fireplaces clad in limestone, a dining room, a gallery, a living room, an updated kitchen, three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Jackson, 68, won 11 NBA titles as a head coach, including five championships with the Lakers from 2000-10. In March, he signed a five-year, $60 million contract with the Knicks to be team president.
The purchase was first reported by CityRealty blog 6sqft. The property originally came to market in February with an asking price of $4.995 million.
In addition to his new midtown apartment, Jackson owns a modern beachfront home in Playa del Rey and a house on Flathead Lake in western Montana.
