The Long & Foster Companies has hired Terrence “Terry” P. Dwyer as its new senior vice president and chief information officer, effective Jan. 2015. Dwyer brings 27 years of information technology experience to the position, with 14 of those years spent in the real estate industry.

“Having worked in information technology within the real estate industry in the Mid-Atlantic, I’ve admired Long & Foster as a family-owned company that is committed to providing phenomenal service to its clients while helping its agents have successful careers in real estate,” Dwyer said. “I’m so pleased to become a part of the Long & Foster family, and I’m excited to build on the company’s excellent reputation. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with my new colleagues, and to continue to move the company forward in providing the best tools and technology for its agents and clients.”

Dwyer comes to Long & Foster after running his own IT consulting firm, Dwyer & Associates, where he assisted clients in IT planning, organization transformation, operations excellence and governance. Prior to that, Dwyer served as chief information officer of Realogy Corporation, a global provider of real estate and relocation services. There, he was responsible for the executive leadership and oversight of all IT activities at Realogy, as well as its additional businesses. Dwyer also previously served as the CIO at NRT, a subsidiary of Realogy Corporation that owns and operates hundreds of real estate brokerages.

“Providing support for today’s clients and real estate professionals takes a highly knowledgeable and motivated leader, and I’m confident that with Terry at the helm of our organization’s information services, we’ll continue to strengthen the technology and tools we have to offer our agents and their clients,” said Jeffrey S. Detwiler, president and chief operating officer of The Long & Foster Companies. “Terry brings the industry expertise and leadership skills that are needed to help us succeed in the real estate industry, and we’re excited to welcome him to the Long & Foster family.”

Dwyer received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida, where he also took Master’s in Business Administration courses and numerous other business and technology courses. In addition to working in IT in the real estate industry, Dwyer has served as an advisory board member mentoring technology start-up firms with the National Association of Realtors (NAR) REach, and he has served as a member of NAR’s Data Privacy & Security Committee.
