Service beyond Measure with Customized Floor Plans

When it comes to marketing listings in today’s competitive environment, real estate professionals are doing everything they can to help their listings stand out. For many, it’s this out-of-the-box thinking that separates their listings from others on the market, attracting clients who expect their agent to go above and beyond to get their home sold—quickly and for top dollar.

Joseph Himali, principal broker at Best Address® Real Estate, LLC in Washington, D.C., has been raising the bar with his own two hands for years now, incorporating computer-generated floorplans into his marketing materials for each and every one of his listings. “From taking measurements to drawing the floorplans out myself on a computer, the process took hours and hours, but from day one, clients loved it,” says Himali, who has since partnered with The Home Depot Measurement Services for all of his floorplan needs. With the measurement services company by his side, the entire process has been taken off his hands so that he can spend his time working with clients and attracting new business.

While the process was nothing short of time-consuming in the past, today, a quick visit to www.homedepotmeasures.com is all it takes to get the ball rolling, laying the foundation for a dynamic sales presentation that includes an attractively designed and detailed floorplan.

“Thanks to the company’s online ordering system, the minute I list a new property, I simply log into my account, enter the property details and select a measurement date,” says Himali, a process that takes less than three minutes from start to finish. From there, a Home Depot Measure Associate is assigned to the job. The technician will then call on the morning of your measure date to confirm a timeframe to meet at the property.

As far as scheduling a measurement date, Himali notes that next-day appointments are typically available, a huge selling point for clients looking to move quickly. Making things even easier on everyone involved, technicians can measure both occupied and unoccupied homes. “If the property is unoccupied we get permission from the property owner to place a lockbox on site so that the technician can enter the home on the agreed upon day,” says Himali, a practice that keeps the process running smoothly and efficiently.

But the benefits don’t end there. In addition to the process being entirely streamlined, Himali goes on to explain that two of the biggest benefits are the time and money savings he’s been afforded. “Working with The Home Depot Measurement Services saves me a full working day at minimum. Back when I was doing floorplans by hand, I was making about $100 per hour, so we’re talking a savings of at least $800 per listing. I’m making a lot more today, so the expense is actually a bargain.”

Once The Home Depot Measurement Services technician has completed the floorplan—within two business days of it being scheduled—it’s emailed to Himali to be used within listing presentations, for Web and print marketing and incorporated into brochures and feature sheets that can be left behind at the property.

“I believe we get so many listings because we have superior marketing,” concludes Himali, “which includes ordering a floorplan for every single listing we take. When they arrive, they’re included in all of our virtual tours, providing clients the best perspective and flow of the space.”
