American Home Shield Acquires OneGuard Home Warranties

Home Industry News
June 28, 2016
Reading Time: 2 mins read

American Home Shield recently announced an important strategic expansion with the acquisition of OneGuard Home Warranties. The acquisition is an important milestone in the ServiceMaster growth strategy and expands the company’s footprint in three highly competitive and important states: Texas, Arizona and Nevada.

Based in Phoenix, OneGuard has provided unique, high-quality home warranties and value-added services to customers since 1990. The company was named to the Inc. 5000 List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies in 2015 and just this month, was named to azcentral.com’s 2016 the list of Top Companies to Work for in Arizona.

“OneGuard has a very unique position in the marketplace, offering a broad range of services that meet a variety of homeowner needs, even beyond those served by a traditional home warranty,” says Tim Haynes, president of American Home Shield. “This, along with its strong record of growth and entrepreneurial, customer-focused mindset, makes OneGuard a perfect fit with American Home Shield and ServiceMaster.”

“We are excited about where we are today and the opportunities that are ahead,” says Scott Smith, CEO of OneGuard. “We’re a performance-driven company, and our core values have been a cornerstone of our success: service before self, a focus on solutions and above all, a positive team mentality. American Home Shield and ServiceMaster have the same high standards and commitments to employees and customers alike.”

OneGuard will continue to be in-market with its current brand identity and product offerings, and its leadership team remains in place. It has approximately 125 employees, most of whom are located at the company’s headquarters and customer service center in Phoenix.

Jason Bailey, vice president of mergers and acquisitions for ServiceMaster, notes that acquisitions were an important tenet of the company’s growth strategy and that the company continually searches for those with respected brands, a legacy of quality service and strong customer relationships.
