The Social Media Holiday Checklist

Home Best Practices

social_media_checklist_BH&GIt’s that time of the year again—the holidays are right around the corner! Is your social media strategy ready for the change in activity and posting? If you’re not sure how to take advantage of this transition to truly set yourself up as an industry authority and preferred client guide, fear not! We have some simple but effective tips and tricks to enhance your social media presence this winter:

Update your images
If your profile were a house, the cover photo would be your curb appeal. So, celebrate the season by giving your cover photo a holiday-themed makeover. Take advantage of this highly visual area to send your holiday greetings as well as show off your personality and style.

Finding great images for your cover photo is actually easier than you might think. It’s right there in your camera or phone! If you’re dressing up your home or office for the holidays, don’t forget to snap a photo of your decoration. Most modern smartphones come with basic photo editing capabilities that let you easily crop and adjust your snapshots to your liking.

Here are some cover photo ideas to get you started:

  • Close-up of fireplace mantel with holiday displays
  • Doors decorated with seasonal wreaths
  • Holiday cards neatly arranged on a table or strung up on the wall
  • You (yes, you!) holding signs with greetings in front of a Christmas tree

Change up your post content
While you’re refreshing your cover photo, why not infuse some of that festive spirit in your content as well? Share articles about decorations and party preparation.

With the holidays also comes extreme weather and extended vacations, so help your clients prepare by giving advice on winterizing doors and windows, as well as home safety tips. Ask your new clients to post photos of how they spend their first holiday in their new home. And of course, don’t forget to schedule posts on the actual holidays to send greetings and best wishes. You can do all of this easily—and in advance, so you can enjoy your own holidays—using a post scheduling tool, such as our tool of choice, Lumentus Social.

With the holidays right around the corner, now is the time to start planning out your strategy. With just a few minor updates, you’ll stay relevant and become an even more appealing presence to your clients all winter long!
