CommGate, HAR, Xceligent Help Commercial Tenants Find Space in Harvey’s Wake

Home Industry News

Reading Time: 2 mins read

Commercial Gateway (CommGate), the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR) and Xceligent are helping commercial tenants displaced by Hurricane Harvey find short-term lease options, the organizations recently announced. Tenants can search for options through CommGate’s website, www.CommGate.com.

“So much of the Gulf Coast’s recovery will depend on the commercial real estate industry responding quickly to meet businesses’ short-term needs and requirements,” says Mario Arriaga, Advisory Board chairman of CommGate. “In addition to displaced businesses, we also need to accommodate insurance adjusters, claims processors, relief agencies, out-of-town contractors and building materials providers.”

“Houston will not recover from Harvey’s flood until Houstonians are back to work, and getting displaced businesses in new locations is an essential step in the recovery of our communities,” says Cindy Hamann, chair of HAR. “With damage estimates in the tens of billions and affected commercial properties in the thousands, the three companies wanted to make sure they quickly and accurately identified existing spaces where a landlord is willing to execute a short-term lease for companies in need. CommGate and Xceligent staff contacted owners, property managers and brokers in the market to identify as many of these spaces as possible.”

“We’re proud to work with HAR, CommGate, and the local commercial real estate community to help companies find space and continue operating during this transitional time,” says Doug Curry, CEO of Xceligent.

Xceligent researchers and CommGate staff continue to contact brokers and owners in the area to identify commercial space available for temporary occupancy. Xceligent’s staff will assist displaced businesses by conducting searches for potential spaces and putting them in touch with brokers offering short-term leases. Xceligent staff will also direct inquiries from displaced businesses to the CommGate.com website.
