Chase Sponsors New Home Lifestyle TV Series Aimed At Chinese Immigrants

March 27, 2007
Reading Time: 2 mins read

RISMEDIA, March 27, 2007-Chase, one of the nation's leading residential housing lenders, announced its sponsorship of "Better Living in USA," a television series aimed at entertaining and educating recent Chinese immigrants about homeownership in America.

The series, produced by JLG Entertainment Inc., demonstrates how new homeowners blend Asian culture and American living. Created in Mandarin and Cantonese dialects, "Better Living in USA" is the first original in-language program produced entirely in the U.S. for an Asian-American audience.

"Chase has a long history of helping Asian-Americans make the dream of homeownership a reality," said Thasunda Duckett, senior vice president at Chase. "Now, this new TV series highlights ways Asian homeowners bring their own sense of style and cultural influences into their new homes."

Each episode features the exciting makeover of an average home into the owner's dream home. The series, which will air in 12 seven-minute episodes, also will address financing, energy conservation, insurance and other property-related topics.

The initial season will premiere at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, March 24, on Sky Link TV in Los Angeles and Sunday, March 25, on each of Sinovision's three New York channels. It will air as a segment of the Sunday evening news, which starts at 10:30 p.m., on channels 18 and 73 and at 11:30 p.m. on channel 63. New episodes will air for 12 consecutive weeks.

The series will begin airing in San Francisco in April.

Chase launches first Chinese-language TV commercials

In conjunction with the sponsorship, Chase will launch an advertising campaign called "Better Living." The campaign features a 30-second commercial that plays off the Chinese concept of double happiness by promoting Triple Happiness – marriage, a new baby, and a new home.

The commercial shows a young couple celebrating their wedding anniversary. The wife gives her husband a book for fathers, letting him know she is pregnant. He gives her a set of keys to their new home — financed with a mortgage from Chase.

The spot, also produced by JLG Entertainment, is Chase's first television commercial created originally for Asian consumers. The commercial will be broadcast in both Cantonese and Mandarin dialects.

"Chinese consumers are an important market for our mortgage business, and we want to make sure we're speaking to them in a voice and a language that they understand," Duckett said.
