In January 2024, Kevin Sears assumed the role of president of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), 11 months ahead of schedule. In that time, he secured a release of liability for as many NAR members, associations and MLSs as he could; and preserved the choices consumers have regarding real estate services and compensation.
In the first six months of his presidency, he spent nearly 80% of that time on the road, meeting with and listening to members. During this time, he started a video series titled “On the Road,” shot from various stops in his travels, to keep members updated on NAR activities and his own priorities.
“My career path as a REALTOR® includes serving as an agent in my family’s brokerage, becoming a broker-owner in that same business, and serving as a volunteer leader, including my current role as NAR president. The most rewarding part of all of this has been the opportunity to take what I learn and do every day, and pass on to my kids the importance of real property ownership,” says Sears.
“There are so many tangible and intangible benefits of homeownership,” explains Sears. “There’s the financial stability, security and long-term benefits of investment. It fosters a sense of community, instilling pride in your home and neighborhood.”
