Tips, Time Savers and Hope for the Over-Connected – Part Two

Home Marketing
Home-selling Strategies by Chris Kaucnik and Tracy Crane
December 14, 2010
Reading Time: 2 mins read

RISMEDIA, December 14, 2010—Here are some additional quick tips from HWA’s online guru to help you take back some time, but still stay connected to family, friends and clients. You can easily adjust these settings or alerts to monitor everything from your personal communications, to keeping up with what’s being said about your brand or any other topic you are interested in hearing about.

Tracy Crane is HWA’s resident search and social media guru. Here are some tips we’d like to share to make your tech more trouble-free.

Chris Kaucnik: In our last column, we talked about how you can monitor what’s being said in a free offering at SocialOomph.com and setting keyword alerts. Can you do this through Google too?

Tracy Crane: Yes. Google Alerts captures articles, press releases, forums, blog mentions and more. Just go to www.Google.com/alerts. It’s quick and easy; you just fill out your search terms and answer a few questions, such as how often you want to receive them. You don’t even need a Google account to set this up.

CK: Are there any other good social monitoring services you’d like to share?

TC: Yes. Another one that does pick up from Facebook and LinkedIn is called SocialMention.com. You can just search a keyword or phrase immediately or set alerts, which we suggest you do. You can get all kinds of additional data like Sentiment, Reach, Passion, and ReTweets for these keywords or phrases.

CK: What about time-saving applications for smart phones. Tell us your favorite, and we’ll talk about a few more in our next Techie Time Savers column, too.

TC: Sure. The Facebook application is a great one. It’s a time saver because it gives you a quick snapshot of what is going on in your network. You can also e-mail or text message updates or photos directly to Facebook through your smart phone and see it in real time.

And don’t forget HWA has an application for Blackberries, Androids and iPhones. Just go to www.hwaHomeWarranty.com, click Mobile Apps and go from there. You can watch Ollie videos, use Free Realtor Sales Tools and make your purchases quickly and from anywhere!

Chris Kaucnik is marketing director for Home Warranty of America, Inc. Tracy Crane is new media manager for HWA. For more information, please visit www.hwahomewarranty.com.
