Do or Do Not, There Is No Try

At a recent Buyer’s Agent Boot Camp hosted in St. Louis by Corcoran Consulting and Coaching, attending agents learned that the three-letter word that begins with the letter “T” is a non-acceptable, non-negotiable word. With such an emphasis on avoiding the “T” word as part of their incredible company culture, I decided to have a closer look. I called Bob Corcoran, founder of the company, and asked why this is such a big deal.

Bob let me know—in no uncertain terms—that when someone uses the “T” word, it is nothing more than an excuse, an expression of one’s inability to make a real commitment. For example, when you ask one of your agents to prospect three hours a day, and they respond with, “I will try,” how many hours do you believe they’ll actually do? I have come to the personal conclusion that Bob has a valid point. As a result, my family, my coaching clients and our company have adopted this no-t%# culture.

I’ve noticed a significant difference in the attitudes of the people around me as they stop t%#ing and start doing. When my 9-year-old son headed out on the soccer field recently, I gave him a high five and said, “Do your best!” At school, my daughter is told to do her best when taking the spelling test. And my coaching clients are no longer allowed to t%# and complete their assignments.

The results are staggering! Performance has improved significantly and my clients have stopped working at things and have started doing.

When you commit to something that will make a difference in your business and your life, you remove all excuses for failure and you simply do it. Here are a few examples of things you should stop t%#ing and start doing, as it’ll make a huge difference in your income and happiness going forward:
