EBCBOR Provides Housing Resources for U.S. Troops and Veterans

REALTORS® are vested in helping military service professionals find housing solutions that best meet their needs and allow them to take full advantage of their military benefits. By offering the National Association of REALTORS® Military Relocation Professional (MRP) certification, the Eastern Bergen County Board of REALTORS® (EBCBOR) is empowering REALTORS® to provide those who have served our country with the latest information on homeownership resources and programs.

“Having a stable home environment is vital when men and women of the military are called away to serve their country. Working with a REALTOR® who understands specific needs and timetables related to military service will help make their transfers easier, faster and less stressful,” says EBCBOR Director and Veteran Bruce Elichman, broker-associate of Weichert REALTORS® Fort Lee.

Recognizing the importance of having REALTORS® knowledgeable in addressing the unique complexities of these transactions and advocating for their clients, EBCBOR has given the MRP certification training twice in the last few months.

President Bowen Pak, broker/owner of Eastern International Realty says, “The Military Relocation Professional certification provides Bergen County REALTORS® with resources to accommodate current and former military service members at any stage of their military career.” He continues, “With these skills for working with veterans and active duty military buyers and sellers, REALTORS® are helping to ensure that homeownership remains affordable and accessible to them.”

Active-duty service members and veterans represent a significant client base of REALTORS’® across the country. There are more than 1.1 million active-duty personnel and approximately 70 percent choose private sector homes for their housing needs. Veterans number more than 22 million. There are approximately 35,000 veterans living in Bergen County. Real estate transactions for relocating military personnel are unique in many aspects. The timeframe can be significantly compressed. Military service members may have only days to see homes, make an offer and get under contract.
