Charles Oppler

Prominent Properties Sotheby's International Realty

In addition to his role as CEO and managing partner of Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, Charles Oppler served as the 2021 president of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and served on the NAR Leadership Team from 2019 – 2022. Last year, Oppler was presented with the first-ever New Jersey Leadership Legacy Award, celebrating his outstanding contribution to the real estate industry, both in New Jersey and across the country. He was also voted REALTOR® of the Year for Greater Bergen REALTORS® in 2022, an accolade he previously received in 1997.

After kicking off his career in real estate in 1981, Oppler has held many roles throughout the industry, from serving on NAR’s board of directors multiple times, to positions such as Region 2 vice president in 2005, NAR liaison in 2011 and 2013, vice president in 2015 and REALTOR® party director in 2017. He also served as president of the Eastern Bergen County REALTORS® in 1996 and president of the New Jersey REALTORS® in 2004. He holds the At Home with Diversity certification and has achieved his C2EX designation.

A lifelong resident of New Jersey, Oppler is actively involved in his community, supporting organizations like IronMatt and the March of Dimes.

Over the last few years, Oppler has led the REALTOR® Relief Foundation to a record-setting fundraising year, over $9 million in 2021, and helped grow the NAR Spire program to a mentor/mentee level of over 300 relationships since its inception. He also helped both NAR and the entire industry embrace diversity, equity and inclusion as core values, resulting in more than 60 Implicit Bias certified trainers holding seminars across the country.
