Property owners in Georgia who would like to go solar have faced obstacles due to the lack of a free market in the state, net metering caps and huge interconnect fees. Christopher Matos-Rogers is working with other REALTORS® to change that. In June 2021, the Atlanta REALTORS® Association approved a motion to support Georgians’ access to solar as a property right.
Matos-Rogers is a member of the National Association of REALTORS®’ Sustainability Advisory Group and a director of the Atlanta REALTORS® Association. He also served as the 2021 president of the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance Atlanta.
“‘Be the change you wish to see in the world.’ This is my guiding message for all I advocate in the industry,” Matos-Rogers says. “Some ask, ‘Why hasn’t someone done that?’ I believe we are each capable and responsible for creating change rather than waiting for someone else to do it for us.”
