Denee Evans, CEO of the Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS), has emerged as an industry thought leader and champion for the progression of multiple listing services to better serve brokers and agents by meeting the needs of the consumer.
CMLS is an association of over 200 MLSs committed to high standards of professionalism and performance. In 2018, Evans proudly led the group’s involvement in a U.S. Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission inquiry into industry competition, submitting a “Data and Choices Breed Competition” white paper.
“The MLS is an integral part of organized real estate, and we believe that the data and choices offered by the MLS breed competition,” says Evans. “CMLS documented and advocated the pro-competitive benefits provided by the MLS within the real estate marketplace, ultimately serving the best interest of the consumer.”
In a 2019 letter to the industry, Evans also underscored the importance of continually striving for improvement. She wrote, “Approach things with high intention, sincere effort, vision, skillful execution and the leadership to see obstacles as opportunities. Don’t settle for best, be better. Demand excellence.”
Evans serves on an advisory board for Pearl Certification, the Freddie Mac Task Force for Affordable Housing and the President’s Associates Council at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She frequently speaks as a subject matter expert and has been recognized by the Las Vegas Business Press, Denver Board of REALTORS® Affiliate Council and U.S. Green Building Council. Prior to CMLS, she was executive director at EnergyFit Nevada.
