Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate

John Thorpe, regional vice president of franchise sales at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, is proud to be part of Realogy Holdings Corp.’s long-standing support of the LGBTQ+ community.

Realogy was the highest-ranked residential real estate company on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index in 2019. Many of the top-producing LGBTQ+ real estate agents across the U.S. are affiliated with Realogy brands. A recent survey found that employees agreed almost unanimously that people are treated fairly, regardless of sexual orientation.

Realogy offers its LGBTQ+ employees and their partners transgender health benefits. In 2019, Realogy sponsored and participated in the first-ever WorldPride March in New York. The company sponsors RealPride, its LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group.

Realogy’s leaders believe that diversity among agents and employees can help combat discrimination in the housing market. Realogy was the first residential real estate company to endorse the Equality Act and fully supported an amendment to the Fair Housing Act to protect LGBTQ+ people.

“The LGBTQ community and its allies have a home at Realogy,” Thorpe says. “I was thrilled when I was asked to chair the RealPride ERG. I knew that as an employee of Realogy for 15 years, I had a desire and responsibility to embark on a very forward presence for the LGBTQ+ community at Realogy and beyond. Ryan Schneider and John Peyton, president and CEO of the Realogy Franchise Group, have been not only supportive of our key initiatives, but highly engaged in seeing that they come to fruition.”
