Prudential Real Estate Provides Online Consumers Access to Environmental Profiles

June 4, 2008
Reading Time: 2 mins read

RISMEDIA, June 5, 2008-Prudential Real Estate Affiliates, Inc., a Prudential Financial, Inc. company, began providing consumers with access to free property environmental profiles on its website at www.prudential.com/realestate. According to the company, consumers simply key in an address to receive property-specific environmental information to better inform them during their search for real estate. Prudential Real Estate is the first real estate company to offer such information to consumers in the United States.

The profiles, compiled by Environmental Data Resources Inc. (EDR), a national provider of environmental information, cover all of the U.S. markets and provide data obtained from the Environmental Protection Agency and other agencies detailing certain environmental issues that may exist in close proximity to a specific property.

“There are so many opportunities available today to improve the consumer real estate experience and we’re excited about providing tools like the Environmental Profile directly to consumers and potentially through our affiliate brokers and sales professionals,” said Laurie Keenan, president, Prudential Real Estate Affiliates, Inc.

“This is the objective for all of the enhancements we are making to our website this year. We are assisting consumers in their real estate search by supplying critical homeownership information and content in one place – on prudential.com.”

Prudential Real Estate has entered into a strategic alliance with EDR, creator of the most comprehensive database of environmental and historical land use information in the U.S. EDR is owned by DMG Information (dmginfo.com), a subsidiary of London-based Daily Mail and General Trust plc (dmgt.co.uk/), one of the United Kingdom’s largest international media companies.

“We are excited to work with Prudential Real Estate to provide this critical information to consumers,” said Robert Barber, chief executive officer of EDR. “This tool will help people better understand a prospective neighborhood, informing them of potential environmental issues that may be present so that they are as educated as possible.”
