Founded in 1915, Weidel was established as an insurance and real estate brokerage by Karl Weidel Jr. In 1949 his sons continued the business after honorably serving in WWII, with Karl Weidel III overseeing the insurance division while Richard A. Weidel Sr. began working in real estate sales.
In 1959, the company broke new ground as one of the first real estate brokers in central New Jersey to expand their operation by opening a “branch” office. In the 1960’s, Richard A. Weidel Sr. became a founding member of Mercer County’s Multiple Listing Service and company innovations included the creation of the Valu-Vision Show of Homes and the Rand-O-Matic Electronic Home Selector, one of the first “computers” used in real estate.
