Prudential Georgia Participates in Citywide Open House ‘Race’

Home Marketing

RISMEDIA, September 24, 2010—Prudential Georgia Realty, along with partners SCVNGR and Homefinder.com, will hold Atlanta’s first-ever “Race for the Home” on Saturday, September 25, with the winning team taking home $20,000.

Across Metro Atlanta, teams of two will venture off into a scavenger hunt of sorts, each stop at a different open house, hosted by Prudential Georgia Realty. While at each house, the teams will have to answer questions via their mobile phone, all presented by mobile gaming platform SCVNGR, which is funded by Google.

“Participants will gather at Piedmont Park at 9 a.m. and then we’ll unleash them to our open houses,” explains Dan Forsman, president & CEO of Prudential Georgia Realty. “While at each home, they’ll get several challenge questions. Successful answers earn points based upon the difficulty of the challenge. Then, it is off to the next location.”

In total, 60 for-sale homes will participate in the event, according to Forsman. “This innovative game will get potential buyers into these houses and there, they’ll learn interesting things about each of these homes through the challenges,” he says.

According to Tony Floyd, senior vice president of marketing for Prudential Georgia Realty, “This type of event wouldn’t be possible without SCVNGR. The underlying technology is very powerful, scalable and fun at the same time. Since we are also known as an innovator, it did not take SCVNGR long to find us. We knew it was a great match. This is their first real estate event in the nation and the largest scale event ever done. SCVNGR has hosted 75 smaller events in cities across the nation so they are well-prepared for the Race for the Home.

“SCVNGR is a lot like Foursquare or Facebook Places in that it’s location-based technology,” he continues. “After the event, we will be working with SCVNGR to test the application in other open house events, caravans, property marketing and agent training. We see lots of potential to engage a whole new generation of clients and agents.”

At the end of the day, everyone will meet back up for the winner’s announcement. “The winner will receive $20,000 toward the purchase of their dream home,” says Forsman.

“Our listings will also be Featured Properties on HomeFinder.com, which will drive significant exposure for our clients,” he says. “The television, radio and social networking exposure from this event has been amazing. CBS Atlanta and Star 94 radio have promoted the event heavily and this has become quite a phenomenon. We expect the Race for the Home to be a major boost leading into the fall and winter markets. The energy and new relationships generated from this event will serve our agents and our clients well.”

The following day, Prudential Georgia Realty will hold its “Super Sunday Open House Event,” which will include the same homes that took part in the scavenger hunt plus hundreds more. “We will have over 400 homes open to show,” says Forsman. “It’s going to be a great weekend for us; we are really excited. One weekend and two big events that will have a huge impact on the Atlanta real estate market.”
