Company Spotlight: Providing a Consistent Message – Video Library Offers On-Demand Training

RISMEDIA, September 30, 2010—How do we get consistency into our training? What incentives do I offer my recruiting candidates? What can I do to motivate my agents to prospect? These are just some of the questions on the minds of real estate professionals today. And the answer is simple, according to Kathy McCarty, director of career development, Reece and Nichols—an avid user of David Knox Productions, Inc.’s online training resource, www.realestatetrainingbydavidknox.com.

“Because I’ve worked with David off and on over the years, and also use his material during our new agent training, offering his video library to our company seemed like the next logical step,” says McCarty. “We were looking for a product that would enhance the training program we already had in place—something on-demand and something our brokers, owners and managers could easily use with their agent population, from newbies to experienced veterans.”

Since offering Reese and Nichols’ agents access to David Knox’s online video training library in February, McCarty has heard nothing but positive feedback.

“David’s online training library has enabled our agents to receive training on specific topics of interest at their convenience, rather than when a course is being offered,” which has allowed Reece and Nichols to diversify the type of training it provides—all while offering a consistent message.

Not only do Reece and Nichols’ agents have on-demand, 24/7 access to thousands of videos through the company’s internal website, but office managers are taking advantage of the online videos as well.

“Not only can videos be searched for in the library, but our training department e-mails a weekly video recommendation based upon quarterly themes to every office manager, who can then forward the content to agents or use it during sales meetings or small group training,” says McCarty.

Agents then have the ability to go back and review the material on their own time, which helps reinforce the ideas that have been presented and enables them to internalize the information more quickly.

“This has been especially helpful for our new agents as it is important for them to go back through the information that has been presented once they are in the office on a day-to-day basis,” she says.

While the online training library is not a replacement for the classroom and in-house training Reece and Nichols offers, the company is using it to take their training to the next level.

“Not only are the videos professionally done and to the point, but the PDFs that accompany each video have been an added benefit to our agents,” she says. The PDFs go hand-in-hand with the videos and provide an outline that includes buyer/seller questions, graphs and charts—offering a complete training package.

Plus, keeping most of the videos between 10-12 minutes provides agents with quick, on-the-topic learning.

“Our agents have found a lot of success with videos that cover a variety of topics, such as questioning skills, establishing a referral network, open houses and questioning the client’s motivation, among others,” she says. Agents have access to the site’s advanced videos as well, which include interviews with top agents from across the country, in addition to Knox’s popular First Tuesday series.

“Working with David and his team has been a great experience from the beginning,” concludes McCarty. “The entire team is responsive when we call with questions or to discuss an issue, and I am always kept in the loop as to when new videos are posted.”
