Prudential Network Realty Hosts Round Robbin Tennis, Raises $1,200 for MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation

RISMEDIA, June 20, 2011–Prudential Network Realty recently hosted the first annual Real Estate Round Robin tennis event at the MaliVai Washington Youth Center, raising more than $1,200 for the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation.

Several real estate professionals took part in the Round Robin competition which included a clinic hosted by North Florida Professional Tennis Association (NFPTA) local professionals, an exhibition and lunch.  The event also launched a new career mentoring program that will bring real estate professionals from all industry areas together with children attending the foundation’s programs.

“We enjoyed an amazing day of tennis, camaraderie, food and fun, and we raised vital scholarship funds for the foundation and its new mentoring program,” says Prudential Network Realty Broker Manager Andy Fletcher, who is a former member of the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation board of directors.  “We are truly excited about the opportunity to work with tomorrow’s leaders and help develop Northeast Florida’s future REALTORS®.”

The mentoring program is slated to begin in the fall.  A special curriculum, developed in partnership with Dr. Ronald Boatright of the Florida Real Estate Institute, will enable youth attending the foundation’s program to learn about all aspects of real estate careers directly from real estate professionals through mentoring and special events.

“Our foundation promotes academic achievement and positive life skills through the game of tennis,” says Founder MaliVai Washington.  “We use tennis to engage youth in an active and fun recreation program, but what we offer is so much more than sports.  Mentorship programs make it possible for young people to learn about careers that they could potentially get involved in.”

In addition to Prudential Network Realty and the Florida Real Estate Institute, sponsors included REALTOR® Anita Vining of Prudential Network Realty’s San Marco/San Jose office, REALTOR® Cici Anderson of Prudential Network Realty’s Ponte Vedra office, attorney James Pearce, Lennar Homes and Angie’s Subs.  There is a continuing need for individual and business sponsors to support the mentoring program and future events.  For more information, call Fletcher at (904) 260-4300.
