You can also provide additional value through your online social media profiles. While properly maintaining your online presence can be a full-time job, if you don’t have the time to devote to each platform, consider what each network delivers and where your clients are. Whether you post to a professional blog, Pinterest, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, or Tumblr, make sure you include statistics, articles and insight that your clients will appreciate.

Personalized interactions are always valuable as well. Send hand-written cards for important occasions. Be sure to keep track of your clients’ birthdays independent from social networks, as they can often be inaccurate. If you send a birthday card at the wrong time of year, you could end up doing more harm than good. People love to be considered. Send gifts for the holidays and especially when you close a sale or purchase together. Personalized recognition, no matter how minor, can leave a lasting impression.

Ultimately, in-person interactions are the most valuable way to enhance client relationships. Frequent local coffee shops and other hot spots where you’re most likely to run into people. Consider hosting a neighborhood open house, a small dinner, or sponsoring a fundraiser for a local cause.
