HGTV’s FrontDoor.com Introduces New Home Styles Tagger

RISMEDIA, July 15, 2010—FrontDoor.com, the online real estate information service of cable network leader HGTV, has introduced a new style-tagging feature for its 4+ million listings, allowing real estate professionals and consumers alike to “vote” on a house’s style.

Using a convenient drop-down menu, users can choose from two dozen home styles ranging from mid-century modern to ranch and from neoclassical to Victorian. The ability to search by specific home styles will be added to the site later this year.

“Homes aren’t one-size-fits-all,” says Rich Lacy, vice president and site director for FrontDoor.com. “Site users now have the ability to weigh in and voice their opinion regarding the most appropriate style for each home listed on FrontDoor.com. Also, some house hunters know upfront that they’re only interested in a craftsman bungalow or pueblo-style home, and this sophisticated filter will soon allow them to find those types of homes at a glance.”

The site has also created an in-depth architectural style guide, which gives explanations and time periods for each home style and explains particulars such as where to find certain styles and what maintenance is required. Users can also take the fun “Which Style Are You?” quiz to find out their architectural personality.

Leading Real Estate Companies of the World has partnered with HGTV’s FrontDoor.com to create a more meaningful way for buyers to identify its Luxury Portfolio homes of interest.

“Through our relationship with FrontDoor, we are making it easier for affluent buyers to find the homes that are most appealing to them,” notes Paul Boomsma, president of Luxury Portfolio Fine Property Collection. “By tagging Luxury Portfolio’s listings on FrontDoor.com with style information, we create a superior online experience for discerning buyers.”

Adds Lacy: “Coming on the heels of our new real estate widgets, the Home Styles Tagger gives agents and consumers even more of what they’re looking for in a top-notch real estate website.” Agents and brokers who wish to learn how to submit tagged listings should contact FrontDoor at style@frontdoor.com.

Launched in late 2007, FrontDoor has rapidly risen to become a leader in real estate Web services thanks to the demonstrated leadership and know-how of HGTV—seen in more than 95 million U.S. households and is a leading resource for home and garden content—combined with a rich, video- and image-centric experience offering the best and latest in listings and real estate related information.
